Tupperware Dreamtime Manager Conference

Event Name            Tupperware Dreamtime Manager Conference
Destination Darwin, Northern Territory
Venue Darwin Convention Centre
Pax 500 delegates

About the event:

The Tupperware Dreamtime Manager Conference was staged for managers and directors from throughout Australia and New Zealand. It is held to launch new products, deliver training and product demonstrations and also recognise the company’s top performers, by including “money can’t buy” elements.

Reflecting the strong Indigenous culture of the Northern Territory, the company chose a ‘Dreamtime’ conference theme, featuring a specially-designed dot-painted conference logo. A range of Indigenous cultural activities and entertainment were also woven into the programme.

Why the NT?

Darwin was chosen in response to strong demand from the Tupperware Managers who asked “why haven’t we been to Darwin yet?”  Organisers advised that Darwin’s interesting history also added to the destination’s appeal.

Challenges/Triumphs

The Top End’s peak period Dry Season presented challenges, with so many local suppliers busily engaged with a range of other major events on in Darwin at the same time. However, the assistance of the NT Convention Bureau team overcame any issues, due to their strong network of reliable local suppliers.

Songstress Dami Im, winner of a popular Australian television talent competition, performed at the opening function at the Darwin Convention Centre. The NT Indigenous troupe ‘One Mob Dancers’ provided the traditional ‘Welcome to Country’ and a cultural dance presentation.  The NT’s own international star, Jessica Mauboy, was the sensational headline act at the al fresco conference closing dinner staged on the expansive lawns of SKYCITY Darwin.

An Activity Picnic Day held for 200 specially-qualified delegates combined a wetlands cruise at the Corroboree Billabong, located just over 100 kilometres from Darwin, with a locally-catered picnic at scenic Berry Springs.

Special Touches

An exclusive meet-&-greet session for a VIP group of delegates with songstress Jessica Mauboy also included an up-close & personal encounter with baby crocodiles and their handlers from Crocodylus Park in Darwin.

Comment

“We decided to have the conference in Darwin, principally because it’s a place most Australians and New Zealanders haven’t been to before. We thought it would be a good, different and attractive location and that’s what it’s proven to be.”
